Presidential Selection

One of the biggest decisions on the business agenda this year is the selection of a new president, which will be decided by credentialed ministers and delegates
from Foursquare churches across the country. As we prepare to gather together in Atlanta May 31-June3 for Foursquare Connection 2010, the annual
convention of The Foursquare Church, there are a handful of materials to help you get to know the two presidential candidates.

Glenn Burris Jr.

Dennis W. Easter

Glenn's relationship with Christ began in childhood, in the church his father, Dr. Glenn Burris Sr., pastored. At a Foursquare youth camp, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and committed himself to a life of Christian service.

Following his graduation from Mount Vernon Bible College in 1975, he served as a youth pastor; he later became a senior pastor and served as a divisional superintendent. Glenn became the supervisor of the 10-state historic Southeast District in 1992 and served in that role until 2002 when he became the general supervisor of The Foursquare Church, a vice presidential position.

His direct oversight included the districts, churches, ministries and ministers within the U.S. He is a member of the board of directors and served as chairman from 2004-2008. Additionally, he served a brief term as president of LIFE Bible College East in Christiansburg, Va.

Glenn became interim president of The Foursquare Church September 1, 2009. In that role he serves almost 1,900 congregations and approximately 7,000 licensed ministers in the United States. Glenn also partners with national leaders in 143 other countries and territories; the international church has more than 66,000 Foursquare churches worldwide and approximately 8.7 million members.

Though his office is based in Los Angeles, Glenn travels frequently, keeping in close contact with the leaders and churches that he is privileged to serve.

Glenn has influenced countless leaders, and he celebrates the success of others as distinct victories to the glory of God. Glenn and his wife, Debbie, have been married since 1975. They are the parents of two adult children, Heidi Conley (Dustin) and Joshua Burris.

Born and raised in Southern California, Dennis is a graduate of LIFE Bible College with both a B.A. and a B.Th. degree, and he has a master's degree from Azusa Pacific University. He is currently a doctoral candidate at George Fox E vangelical Seminary; his area of study is leadership and spiritual formation.

Dennis served as a youth pastor, associate pastor, co-pastor, and senior pastor. In 1985 he became the sen ior pastor of the Horizon Foursquare Church in Ventura, Calif., where he served until February 2000. The attendance grew to more than 500, and the congregation planted two daughter congregations. Dennis also served as a divisional and regional superintendent during that time period.

In January of 2000 Dennis became the supervisor of the South Central District. He helped to bring an intentional and strategic response to the larger Foursquare mission of developing healthy reproducing churches led by healthy reproducing leaders. As he led the district in the multiplication initiative, he pioneered and implemented a leadership development program called Focusing Leaders. Following that assignment, Dennis returned to California to develop and lead the Church Health Initiative; he also chaired the Educational Commission.

In June 2005 Dennis became the lead pastor of the Portland, Ore., Foursquare Church. He also serves as the chairman of the board of trustees for Life Pacific College. In September 2009 he became the chairman of the reconstituted National Church Committee.

Dennis is a strategic thinker and a gifted communicator. He has been married to his wife, Patsy, for 41 years; they have four adult children, Michele Russinger (Greg), Michael Easter (Jen), Allison Hester (James), and Alicia Cloyd (Kaylan), and eight grandchildren.
